Common questions about virtualization and private cloud.

Is this the same as moving to public cloud?
No. A private cloud runs on infrastructure you own or control, rather than a public provider's shared platform. It gives you similar flexibility — pooled resources, faster provisioning — while keeping data and workloads inside an environment you're directly accountable for.
How much can we expect to save by consolidating?
It depends heavily on your current hardware, licensing and utilisation, so we won't quote a figure until we've assessed your environment. What we can say is that consolidation almost always reduces the number of physical machines you're running and maintaining.
Will there be downtime during migration?
We plan migrations in phases, with maintenance windows agreed in advance, and use live migration tooling where the platform and workload allow it. Some downtime is often unavoidable for certain systems, but we scope and communicate it before work starts rather than after.
Can you work with the hypervisor or platform we already use?
In most cases, yes. We assess your existing environment and licensing position first and design around it where that makes sense, rather than defaulting to a rip-and-replace approach.
What happens if a physical host fails after migration?
That's exactly what the high-availability configuration is for — clustering and shared storage are designed so workloads can fail over to remaining hosts rather than going down with the failed one. We size this to the level of resilience your business actually needs, and explain the trade-offs before you commit to a design.
